The Psagot Playgrounds Lyre gives kids a different kind of musical experience from the drums and xylophones you see on most playgrounds. Plucking a string feels different from striking a surface, and the sound sustains and fades in a way that percussion instruments do not. The strings are tuned to the Western scale, so kids can pick out recognizable melodies and start to understand the relationship between string length and pitch just by experimenting.
The recycled HDPE frame handles sun, rain, and temperature swings without degrading, and the metal strings maintain their tuning through outdoor exposure.
