You get to the gate, the dog is already pulling, and you are holding a leash, a water bottle and a bag with nowhere to put any of it. That is the problem this solves.

The hook is shaped so a dog cannot pull its own leash back off — a small detail that stops being small the first time you watch a lab walk off with it.

Mounting is flexible: ground spikes, anchor bolts, or surface mount. That matters on a retrofit, where coring an existing concrete pad may not be an option.
