The Psagot Playgrounds Independence is a large dome-shaped climbing structure with a metal frame, climbing nets on the outside, a rope web on the inside, wooden walkways between levels, and an integrated slide. Kids can climb the exterior, enter through openings, and work their way through the interior. It holds 100 children ages 5-12. ASTM F1487 and IPEMA certified.
BEST FOR: Municipal parks that need a high-capacity climbing structure offering more than a standard net climber. If you want something that gives 5-12 year olds both exterior and interior climbing challenges on a 40-foot footprint, the Independence is a solid choice.
What I like about the Independence is that it gives kids two different climbing experiences in one structure. The outside is nets on a metal frame -- straightforward climbing where you can see everything. The inside is a rope web and wooden walkways where kids have to figure out the routes between levels. It is a different kind of problem-solving when you are inside a dome versus scaling the outside of one.
At 100-kid capacity, the dome shape distributes climbers across a large surface area so it does not feel crowded even when it is full. The slide gives kids who are not ready for the full climb a way to get down without having to reverse their route. The mix of materials -- metal frame, rope, wood -- gives kids different textures and grip challenges, which is better for development than a single-material structure.
CAPACITY: 100 children simultaneously, ages 5-12.
FALL HEIGHT: 9'-7.2" (300 cm). Requires appropriate safety surfacing.
