The Colorado is a sphere-shaped climbing structure — stainless steel frame with crisscrossing cable nets and an attached climbing wall. What makes it different from pyramids and cubes is the geometry. On a sphere, every route curves, so kids have to constantly adjust their grip and foot placement as the surface angle changes underneath them. It holds 25 children, fits ages 5-12, and carries ASTM F1487 and IPEMA certifications.
BEST FOR: Parks that want a visually distinctive climbing feature with a genuine physical challenge. The sphere shape draws kids in because it looks different from anything else on the playground, and it keeps them engaged because climbing a curved surface is harder than climbing a flat one. Ages 5-12.
I think the Colorado is one of the more interesting climbing structures we carry because the sphere shape fundamentally changes how kids climb. On a flat wall or even a cube, the surface angle stays constant. On a sphere, you might start nearly vertical and end up on an overhang within a few moves. Kids learn to read the curve and plan their hand placements ahead, which develops spatial awareness in a way linear climbing cannot.
The attached climbing wall gives you a second entry point with a more traditional bouldering feel, so kids who are not ready for the cable sphere can still engage with the structure. At 25-child capacity on a 32-foot footprint, the Colorado works in mid-size playgrounds. Stainless steel construction resists corrosion better than galvanized steel, which matters if you are installing near the coast or in areas with road salt.
