LMADRS (Low Maintenance, Accessible, Durable Rubber Safety Matting) by US Playground Surfacing is an interlocking rubber mat system that installs over a compacted engineered wood fiber (EWF) base. You get a unitary, wheelchair-accessible surface without the cost of tearing everything out and starting over.
This is the surfacing option most people don't know about. If you have an engineered wood fiber playground and want to upgrade to a solid, accessible surface, LMADRS installs in as little as one day. No dumpster, no disposal fees, no sub-base excavation.
LMADRS mats install over IPEMA-certified engineered wood fiber. The combined system (mulch + matting) provides the fall height protection:
Each of those three builds is IPEMA-certified as a complete system, mats plus mulch. The mulch depths are compacted depths, not loose-fill depths.
LMADRS can also install over failing PIP if the sub-base is still structurally sound. The certified ratings above are for the EWF builds. Over PIP, the manufacturer's field drop tests showed the mats lowering impact readings at every spot they tested.
