The Psagot Playgrounds Junior Mechanic Shop is a ground-level play garage that fits ride-on toys and wheelchairs. Inside, kids find play tools, a rotating steering wheel, and a rubber flap entrance door — everything sized for toddlers who want to imitate the grown-up world of fixing cars. I carry it because it's one of the few toddler structures designed specifically for wheelchair access from the start, not as a retrofit. Holds 13 children ages 2-5. HDPE from recycled materials. ASTM F1487 and IPEMA certified.
BEST FOR: Inclusive daycares and preschools that need a wheelchair-accessible play structure centered on role-play and real-world imitation for ages 2-5.
The Junior Mechanic Shop fills a gap I see on a lot of playgrounds — inclusive play that's also thematically rich. A child in a wheelchair can roll right in through the rubber door, grab the play tools, and turn the steering wheel alongside every other kid. That's not a token accessibility feature; it's the whole point of the structure.
At 13-child capacity with ground-level access, it supports group role-play where kids take on mechanic and driver roles. The rubber entrance door is a nice touch — toddlers love pushing through it, and it gives the garage that authentic feel. HDPE construction from recycled materials means no splinters, no rust, no fading, and no annual maintenance.
CAPACITY: 13 children simultaneously, ages 2-5.
FALL HEIGHT: Ground level — no elevated fall height.
MATERIALS: HDPE — UV and wear resistant, produced from recycled materials.
CERTIFICATIONS: ASTM F1487 and IPEMA certified.
