Children stand on the platform, grip the handles, and generate spin through their own body movement. Standing while spinning takes more balance and core strength than sitting, which is why we rate this for ages 5-12 rather than younger children. The 18" fall height reflects the standing position.
The use zone is 20' by 15' 5", so you need more room than the seated spinners require. That is because a child stepping off a standing spinner may travel farther than one stepping off a seated one.
