The Playground Equipment Straight Sit Up Bench is a commercial outdoor fitness station for children ages 5-12. It gives kids a proper surface and foot bar for sit-ups and core exercises, bringing a gym-style workout outdoors. Holds 1-3 kids at a time, with a 21" fall height and use zone of 13' 0" x 16' 0". Meets ASTM F1487 and CPSC #325 safety standards.
BEST FOR: I'd recommend the Straight Sit Up Bench for schools running outdoor PE programs or parks building a kids' fitness circuit. The low 21" fall height keeps surfacing requirements minimal, and it fills a gap that climbing and swinging equipment does not cover -- core strength. Pairs well with pull-up bars and balance beams.
Most playground fitness equipment targets arms and legs, so the sit-up bench fills a real gap by focusing on abdominal and core strength. Kids hook their feet under the foot bar and do sit-ups on the angled bench surface -- same movement as a gym sit-up bench, just sized and rated for children. With a fall height of only 21", your surfacing requirements are about as simple as they get for commercial equipment.
The bench is powder-coated steel throughout, and the seating surface has a rubberized texture so kids do not slide during use.
