The Psagot Playgrounds AlbuquerqueB is a metal toddler play system for ages 2-5 with a feature I don't see often on structures this size — a basketball hoop mounted on the outer wall. Beyond that, you get a hexagonal play surface, an accessibility step, a play panel, ladder climbing, cable net climbing, and a plastic slide. It holds 19 kids and carries ASTM F1487 and IPEMA certifications. Steel construction instead of HDPE, which gives it a different look and feel.
BEST FOR: Daycares and preschools that want to keep toddlers moving between different types of activity. The basketball hoop means kids who are done climbing and sliding have somewhere else to go instead of running laps or bothering the kids still on the structure. I'd also recommend it for programs that serve the older end of the 2-5 range — four- and five-year-olds who are starting to get into ball sports will gravitate toward that hoop.
I like the basketball hoop on this one because it solves a problem I see a lot — kids finish with the climbing and sliding in 10 minutes and then they're bored. The hoop gives them a completely different activity without needing a separate piece of equipment. The cable net climbing and ladder provide two different ways up, so you get less bottlenecking than a single-entry structure.
The steel construction is worth mentioning because most toddler structures in this category are HDPE or plastic. Steel has a sturdier feel, and some program directors prefer it. The tradeoff is that metal can get hot in direct summer sun, so if your play area doesn't have shade, that's something to think about. The accessibility step means every child can get onto the hexagonal play surface.
