The Flower Drum is a freestanding steel drum with a flower design etched into the playing surface. Kids ages 2-12 can tap different sections to produce deep, resonant tones. The whole unit fits in a 30"H x 19"W x 19"L use zone, which makes it one of the most compact musical instruments you can add to a playground. It works as a standalone piece or alongside other instruments in a music garden. Meets ASTM F1487 and CPSC #325 safety standards.
BEST FOR: If you want to introduce music into your playground but have limited space, the Flower Drum is the way to go. It takes up less than two square feet of ground space. It also works well clustered with other instruments like the Bongo Drums or Glockenspiel to create a music zone. Good for inclusive playgrounds since kids play it at ground level with their hands.
I think the Flower Drum is one of the most underrated pieces in this lineup. It is small, it is simple, and kids gravitate toward it. The steel drum surface produces a deeper, more resonant sound than you would expect from something this compact. Different areas of the drum face produce slightly different tones, so there is more musical range here than it looks like at first glance.
